Story

Marsha Ann York, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2021. Marsha was born October 25, 1956 at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. When Marsha was born to her parents, Roweena Tucker and Robert Rouse, God blessed Marsha with Vita, her beloved and protective sister and most importantly life long friend. Following Vita through primary school was challenging as every teacher was thrilled, even elated when they heard that her sister Marsha, was coming to their class. Vita was a solid A++ student and a hard act to follow. Vita taught her many things with ease, gentleness and kindness. She had a generous spirit and helped her sister with everything always. Marsha wants all to know that her sister, Vita Lynn Rouse Taylor is a "genius and we all know it, so sorry sister secrets out. We have outed you we all know it. Thank you very much for everything Vita, always and forever more.” Marsha is a proud sister today of Vita's success as the director of human resources.

At 15, Marsha married Kevin R. York and joined the York family. Shortly thereafter was blessed with the most wonderful thing that ever happened in her life, her son Robert York was born. God spoke to her when she was pregnant with Robert, “I believe that God looked down upon me and said 'Here's this wonderful gift and I'm going to need you to take special care of this precious son, he's going to save your life many times over,'" for this Marsha is forever grateful. Over the years, Marsha and her son enjoyed various activities together, including alpine skiing, water skiing and jet skiiing. They went camping often together visiting many beautiful places because she wanted him to love nature as much as she did. One of her happiest moments that she shared with her son, was on Christmas day when he got a dirt bike. Dirt bike riding was his passion, he was an awesome dirt bike rider and an amazing athlete altogether. Marsha is a proud mother of her son today and his success as a senior right of way agent.

To say Marsha loved animals doesn't convey her feelings, that every animal deserves an education, protection and welfare. Wherever life took her the Humane Society was a top priority. Often people said they would like to be her pet in their next life. Her motto was "Rescue, Rehabilitate, Spay/Neuter, Retrain, Rehome, many many animals."

One of the best gifts God gave to Marsha was the gift of sobriety. Marsha became an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since becoming sober on May 15, 1993. Her favorite quote from AA & Al-Anon is “detach with love” which stayed forever in her heart. "My dreams came true through Gods grace, and diligent effort and I pray the same for you."

Marsha is survived by her beloved son Robert K. York, sister Vita L. Taylor and husband Stephen Taylor, aunt Janette Bennett and uncle William Rouse (Buddy) and a multitude of cousins.
